Piñones

Piñones is a pueblo east of San Juan on the coast. It is home to the best street food and people watching around...

On our trips to Piñones we've enjoyed:

The Food
At Titi's and Lucy's roadside food stands we tried fried delights including Bacalaitos (fried cod fritters/pancakes), Alcapurrias (fried plantains stuffed with meat or fish) and Empanadillas (fried turnovers filled with all sorts of good things) The women insisted that we sit down and enjoy the food with beer. No complaints there.

The People Watching
Fresh coconut water with straws.
Seeing card tables set up in low mangrove trees.
Adults and children swimming in the reef protected beaches (called baby pools)
A boardwalk overlooking 7 miles of ocean beach

It's just fantastic.
